The Neutral Bay Club Tennis Section plays the majority of its tennis on the four artificial grass courts located at the end of Barry Street, although some competition matches are played at nearby Wheatleigh Street. Due to the limited number of courts, the club operates a playing policy requiring its full time membership to be competition level players, although playing team tennis is completely optional. This policy ensures that the tennis played at social level is of a high enough quality for the vast majority of its members.

Competition Tennis

NBC traditionally enters the Autumn Badge and Spring Northern Suburbs team competitions, although members can arrange to be entered into Spring Badge if requested.

For Autumn Badge, the club runs between one to four Ladies' teams, usually between Grades 1.2 and 2.2 and one to eight Men's teams, usually between Grades 1.3 and 2.7. These teams are selected by the club and generally have five or six players in a squad, with four being required per match. Autumn Badge runs from March to July, with matches usually held on two courts between 12:00 - 14:30 or 14:30 - 17:00. However, some away teams may choose to play an all day match on one court, which will run from 12:00 - 17:00.

For Northern Suburbs, members can choose their own teammates and will be entered at a grade suitable for the mean level of the side. Teams can either be Mixed or Men's. Mixed teams usually have six members. Men's teams have four.  Northern Suburbs generally runs from early September to mid December, with matches lasting from 13:00 to 17:30.

Social Tennis

Tuesday evening social operates in blocks during the year and alternates with 7-8 week blocks of social competition in a relaxed tournament organised by the club.  Social play is open to members and non-members alike, running from 19:00-22:00 on all courts, with the club providing the balls and organising doubles pairings. For members it is part of their annual subscription. For non-members there is a $15 fee. The Tuesday night competition is open to members only. Tuesday night social usually ends with a few drinks at the bar, whilst for Friday socials the club runs a sausage sizzle. On the last Sunday of the month, the club also runs a monthly social afternoon tournament for members and non-members. On other week nights, courts are available for hire.

Tuesday Night Schedule

Until further notice, all Tuesday nights are fully reserved for social play.

Sunday Social Tournaments

The Sunday Social Tournament takes place on the last Sunday of the month. Open to members and non-members, the next Sunday Social will take place on the last Sunday in March, with play commencing at 11:00.
